As we are experiencing a particularly cold spell of weather around Ireland this week, we asked our students how they are adjusting to the Irish weather.
Our Swiss students have no fear of the cold weather! Here they are seen enjoying the snow.
Andrea Hernandez Arzola – Venezuela
“I think that everyone expects that there will be constant rain in Ireland. However when you actually arrive here, you are pleasantly surprised. You can see the sun, mist, rain and blue sky all in one day in Ireland. I remember looking out the window at the snowfall and thinking how beautiful it looked, so I took this photo. I saw that the temperature on my phone said 1 degree. I climbed back into bed!”
Lyncoln, Douglas & Gerson – Brazil
“The air is so fresh, it is amazing. The air is cool unlike the 35 degrees heat at home in Brazil at the moment. We are used to such warm temperatures. This is new for us, but it’s not a problem. When you buy a warm jacket and invest in a pair of gloves then it is all good”.
Aurelio Bauer – Switzerland
“Cork weather at the moment feels just like home to me! Only, I wish I had my snow board with me to tackle some of the snow covered hills that I see around the edge of the city. I love to snow board in Switzerland.”

Mohammed Al Quasmi – Oman
“It was a big change when I arrived in Ireland last year. This winter is my second time ever seeing snow. I studied in Ireland last year also so I got my first introduction to snow then. Now in Oman the temperatures are about 23 degrees in the day time and it drops to about 17 degrees in the night time.”
Mercé & Dolors – Spain
“The weather in Cork now is similar to the temperatures at home in Catalonia right now. In the mornings here, there is frost on the grass and footpath around the house of my host family. We look forward to visiting Blarney Castle at the weekend. We have seen spectacular photos of the castle in the snow.”
All the ACET team hope that you have a wonderful weekend!
