Written by Irish writer/director Peter Foott, the film has made a smooth transition from the big to the small screen. The characters and the tone and the Cork charm are just as clear in the TV show as in the film.

The two lovable offenders, Jock and Conor, who are supposed to be attending school, spend most of their time carrying out petty crime.

The rest of the cast including, the garda sergeant, Conor’s mum, the school principal, all add to the fun and to some moving exchanges between the characters.

The BBC have already commissioned a second series.

ACET Fundraiser – Cork to Calais Solidarity

Throughout the past few months, we are all saddened by images of displaced women, men and children arriving in Europe, fleeing their native countries due to violence and oppression. In light of the current humanitarian crisis, a fundraiser was fittingly organised by ACET’s Camille to raise money for the Cork – Calais solidarity volunteer group.

Quiz Poster

Over 60 people were in attendance at the quiz that took place last Thursday 24th in Clancy’s Bar. ACET students, staff and friends, both old and new came together for an entertaining night with quiz master Tony. An impressive €1,165 was raised between the quiz entry fees and raffle. The proceeds were donated to a local group of volunteers that will travel from Cork to Calais bringing with them supplies and aid for those living in dire conditions in the port town of Calais.

Here in Cork, momentum is building for the upcoming Cork Women’s Mini Marathon taking place on Sunday, 27th September.

Initial interest among the staff members and students has been very positive, and while it is still in the very early stages of planning, we are hoping that the school will have a good number of participants.

Marathon start line

The 5 mile race will start in the city centre on Patrick’s Street and the route will carry participants throughout the city to finish up at John F Kennedy Park.

Signup sheets have been posted on the notice boards in school to gauge interest, and plans for training groups and running schedules are also in the pipeline.

For international visitors, participating in this event will be an unforgettable experience that will add to the fond memories of the time spent in Cork!
